It is VERY important that you make your own decisions about what would happen in the event of your, or a loved-one's passing , , ,
Everyone, regardless of age, marital status, or financial circumstances, should protect his or her estate by making out a will.
Unless you direct where your assets should go, the state will step in and order those assets to pass according to the laws of intestate succession.
You may feel your estate isn't big enough to warrant a will - WRONG - Should your death be caused by the negligence of others, your estate may be quite large.
If you have children, you simply must have a will suggesting who would become guardian should something happen to you and/or your spouse.
Is your current will outdated?
You should review your will if:
1. It was executed more than ten (10) years ago. 2. It was executed in another state. 3. A death has occurred in your family. 4. You have recently married or divorced. 5. You now have children, or your children are no longer minors. 6. You have a "blended" family with his children and her children.

What is Probate?
Probate is a word that strikes fear into the hearts of many Americans because they have fallen prey to the idea that once their assets "go into probate", they may never be recovered. That is rarely true. The probate court merely reviews assets and allocates them according to a will, subject to claims by creditors. If there is no will, Missouri laws of intestate succession determine who will inherit any assets after allowed debts are paid.
Missouri law also provides for non-probate transfer of certain assets. Pre-planning can make the probate process much less cumbersome by making use of current laws to distribute assets automatically at death.
Adams Law Offices is here to help with your probate needs, be they pre-planning (such as a will, or beneficiary deed), or should a death occur in your family.
The key is planning. Set up your consultation today to plan for tomorrow.
